You know, God's in the little things. I was reminded of this today as my frustration mounted after getting up early on my last "sleep-in" day before school starts for me as a teacher. I have what seems like a million things to do in my classroom, and only a precious few minutes to do it in. So, when I realized that the school was closed today, I drove away nearly in tears wondering how in the world I was going to get everything done before the kids come. Since I was already in town, I decided to pick up the dry cleaning and then run errands. While talking to one of my favorite ladies at the dry cleaner, I realized Roy and Shi probably had stuff to be picked up as well. I asked the lady about it, and since she knows me so well, she said I could pick up theirs as well. I then called out to the Raley's and told them I was on my way to bring them the shirts and asked if they needed anything else before I headed out. I could tell that Shi sounded down, and she simply replied, "No, but seeing you and the kids would brighten our day." I drove out, and watched as Roy played with Colby, both with smiles on their faces, and sitting like a little kids do, Indian Style, and realized this time would never of happened had I been able to work in my classroom as I had planned. The frustration became a forgotten thought, and an incredible peace came over me as I was reminded God is in control of this wild ride that we call life, not us. He is in everything; every high, every low, every hurt, every joy. Sometimes it is just hard to take a step back and remember, God IS in all things, even the little things. So, thank you God for putting a halt to my plan today, and rearranging it to yours. The hour and a half spent with Roy and Shi were not minutes, but a LIFETIME of memories for my children. God is good, ALL the time.
Monday Jack will be driving Roy and Shi to Dr. Lukman's (Roy's oncologist) office for the results of the liver biopsy at 1:45. This will give us a realistic view of the future and what all it holds. Please be praying for this time. Pray for the Peace that passes ALL understanding to be in all of their hearts, and also for true healing. God is still in the healing and miracle business. I am not giving up yet, and refuse to honor anyone but God and His abilities in this process!
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
You are one awesome woman, wife, mom, sister, sister - in - law, daughter, daughter in law, and friend. I know the Raley's know how special you are to them, especially now! Your choice in the way the you think about this and your walk through it it just awesome. It is sooooo evident that your faith and relationship with Jesus is so right there carrying you through. What an example you are to everyone else.....kids, family, etc. Just know that we continue to lift you all up in prayer. Let me know if there is anything I can do. Kids can come see us if you need a break.
